THE WINTER 2022 DÉFI HORS PISTEFormerly an in-person competition, the Défi Hors Piste has adapted to the specific circumstances of the past 2 years and has emerged with one of the most unique and creative online event there is. We are happy to announce that we are the official sponsor for the Winter 2022 DHP snowboarding Mens Open category! Thanks to Adrenaline Urbaine for letting us be a part of your iconic contest.
Inspired by projects that have greatly influenced the snowboard scene such as the X GAMES REAL Real Snow, the Défi Hors-Piste is an online competition that aims to have all participants submit a video of themselves performing a succession of tricks or a “line”, but in the most creative or “off-road” way possible. New this year, the Winter 2022 DHP will only consist of one line instead of a full video project, making the format a lot more accessible for everyone. The video can be filmed on a smart phone as well as on a regular camera.
The best part about DHP is that it gives a lot of room for true creativity as there are no rules to the contest. Participants have from December 21, 2021 to February 21, 2022 to film and submit a video of their best line, but other than this deadline, you can truly do whatever you like! No time limit for your line and no pressure. As long as you send us a single line that’s creative and that we have your video before the end of day on February 21st, you have a chance to make some money!
The sports will be judged separately in the Open category and judged on a mixed basis in the Amateur and Beginner categories. The judges will assess scores based on creativity, effort, tricks variety and selection, spot selection and the original use of the terrain. The more the better! The top 3 of each category will go home with some cold hard cash!
To get maximum points, respect for the “hors piste” concept should be put forward by riders using urban space, DIY modules or other creative places. The sequences filmed in snowparks will be judged only if the rider used the terrain in a creative way.
NEW THIS YEAR
You loved last year’s Winter DHP, you will be please with what’s in store for this year as the contest concept, format and judging have all been enhanced.
As mentioned earlier, the format is made more accessible due to the fact that y a line is requested compared to last year’s full video project. The winners will be divided by sport in the Open category compared to last year’s podium that was mixing 3 sports. (snow / ski / snowskate) We’re also proud to announce that this year, each sport has its own judge instead of having the same judge working on multiple disciplines. With Antho Chamberland for snowboarding, Alex Blais for Snow Skating and Phil Casabon for Skiing, we can safely say DHP 2022 has the best of the best when it comes to judging.
SNOW SKATE BEST TRICK
Since doing a line is very difficult on a snow skate, Adrenaline Urbaine is throwing a nice $ 500 cash prize and a snowskate valued at $ 1000 for the snowskate best trick! It still has to check all the same boxes as the “line” with creativity, spot selection and use of terrain, but for a single trick instead of a line.
