Celebrating skateboarding and rock n’roll cultures, the 40th anniversary of Back in Black as well as the release of AC/DC’s brand new album Power Up, the collection includes footwear and apparel taking inspiration from more than 4 decades on the Highway to Hell!
That’s right, it’s been 40 years since the band released their most coveted album ever, Back in Black. 2020 was definitely the perfect year for AC/DC to highlight this hell of a milestone with a collection of hard rocking skateboarding footwear and clothing from none other than one of the most respected skate footwear brands in the biz.
Believe it or not, AC/DC and skateboarding have shared a lot over the years. Numerous songs were used in iconic skate videos that shaped a generation of shredders like you and I. This Is Not The New H-Street Video by H-Street (1990) and Thrill of It All by Zero (1997) just to name a few.
If you’re not a skate video nerd, there’s a good chance you heard AC/DC in the opening sequence of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 video game! Who doesn’t remember the good old TNT riff starting after turning on that PS2 with the infamous game. That goes without saying the brand and the band almost share the same name!
The collection
Consisting of Infinite and Villian slip-ons, the Court Graffik, the Pure and Josh Kalis‘ Kalis Vulc Mid and Vulc Low plus special tees and hoodies, the offerings aim to encapsulate the rebellious spirit shared by skateboarders and the Australian rockers.
Each shoe is obviously dressed in black and works AC/DC’s signature red and yellow logo into its design in different fashions — mostly replacing the standard branding with band-specific hits. like Highway to Hell cover on the Slip-Ons or the band logo on the Court Graffik.
On the clothing side of things, the collection includes long and short sleeves shirts options with AC/DC imagery as well as a dope tie dye hoody with one of the band’s most famous quote: “ For those about to rock, we salute you”.
