The Global Week for Climate Change officially kicked off yesterday, meaning that people around the world will take action to help save our planet and reduce our impact on climate change for the next 7 days.
Some will take part in strikes, some will close their stores/businesses, some won’t attend school while other will simply double their efforts at recycling, reducing toxic waste and doing everything that could help reduce the impact we have on our environment. All in all, the upcoming week is about getting together to take care of our dear Mother Earth.
JOIN US AND THE BURTON MONTREAL CREW DURING THE OFFICIAL CLIMATE MARCH! MEET AT THE BURTON MONTREAL STORE ON SEPTEMBER 27th AT 10 AM AND COME MARCH WITH US!
Believe it or not, Climate Change has a direct effect on us, snowboarders. There’s no other option, we need snow in order to ride. No snow, no snowboarding. We still got snow right now, but what if in a couple years from now, your own kids don’t get to know what shredding fresh pow is, that would be disappointing wouldn’t it. Well, that’s one of the reasons why our community has to stand up and join the effort for a better future for our planet AND for our slopes.
Thinking about getting that new board setup you’ve been dreaming about? Take advantage of the situation and get products from brands that put efforts into the climate change situation. Here are three brands that we love and that are leaders amongst the eco-friendly businesses of today. By getting their products, you also do your part.
Burton is actually the leader in sustainability in the snowboarding industry and even above that. They have countless ways to help keep our planet healthier and put a massive amount of efforts into the preservation of our environment.
From the lifelong guarantee to their next level recycling techniques to their implication and actions in the fight against the deterioration of our beautiful planet, Burton understood the importance of fighting against climate change a long long time ago. No wonder why the starting point of the Montreal March against climate change happening on September 27th in Montreal is their actual store.
Lib Tech is another brand that’s known for its will to help the climate change situation. They use better manufacturing practices that both protect the health of the craftsmen, but also that of the planet, leaving zero hazardous waste behind in production. Lib Tech is part of the EnvironMental movement for sure.
Known for conceiving their goods in the most incredible and most environmental factory there is, Libtech is dedicated to preserve the climate and the planet. Their biggest pride is to have the lowest rate of hazardous waste made from toxic silk screening processes. The boards are also all Made in the USA, avoiding transportation and allowing them to have a total control on the way they consciously make their products.
The youngest brand among the ones presented here. To put it simply, they built a board factory in Feistritz, Austria, in 2015, called the "Mothership" where they created the most modern and cleanest snowboard producing system, which is completely powered by domestic hydropower, i.e. CO2-neutral. They in fact received the Energy Globe Award in 2017.
In addition to hydropower, the materials are based on more water-based paints, vegetable resins and less solvents. Good to know that getting a dream Capita board truly represents a healthy push for our environment.
