NEW BRAND IN STORE – SOUVENIR
Souvenir is a wink to snowboarding’s golden years with a touch of modernity. Snowboard pants that have all the tech specs to withstand today’s high standards in outerwear, but that have a look and a feel that brings us back to the late 90s/early 2000s, a time when snowboarding was really blowing up and presented its own style to the world. Yes, the Forum True Life days, the Mack Dawg Resistance days, the Special Blend days, etc. Nothing better to get us hyped for the upcoming snow season.
Taking cues from brands like Forum, Special Blend and other iconic companies from the late 90s early 2000s, the Souvenir pants feature all of today’s modern technical points with a look and fit that no other brands are offering at the moment. Come look for yourself in our stores and try them on, you’ll see what we mean by perfect fit and style!
Goes without saying that these pants, even if they are of the highest quality, are really affordable. With a price just a bit above $200, your wallet will like your choice just as much as you!
HOW IT ALL STARTED
Souvenir was introduced to the world not more than 11 months ago and was created by Gab Bélanger and Oli Van Roost, two experienced snowboarders who saw the need for better fits and updated looks in snowboard pants. They had that vision for a pants that would take us to memory lane and bring us back to the years when a lot of us started snowboarding. All that, for a price that’s really easy on the funds.
Everything started when Gab was randomly shopping for snowboard pants for his Winter 2021 season. After finding fits that were either too slim or too baggy for his liking, Gab asked his good designer friend Oli if he could create a custom pair of pants for him. A pair of pants that had the perfect fit and a look that comes straight from the early 2000s.
A few weeks later, Oli came back to Gab with the idea to actually make a brand out of it. Gab, who always cherished the idea of starting his own outerwear brand, accepted without hesitation and a few months later, they had their first prototypes that they tested all Winter on Quebec’s mountains.
With more than 25 years designing and developing outerwear and apparel for some of the top snowboard brands, and having built great partnerships with some of the best makers available, everything was already in place to begin sampling. Having these relationships with factories, fabric suppliers, and access to all the best supply chains, as well as all these years of trial and error gave Souvenir an instant advantage and allowed them to act as an established brand right out of the gate.
Bringing forward a classic 3 layers pant as their first prototype in 2021, the brand made so much noise on the slopes last winter that the founders truly had to bring their conception to the market. Everyone that saw the guys would ask them where these were coming from and how they could get their hands on a pair. That only solidified their idea to officially launch the brand.
Fast forward to a few months later and the pants are now sold at some of the finest snowboard retailers of the province. And that’s just the beginning!
The Souvenir pants have high levels of style and are available in 4 sick colors, Black, sand, cement and rose. The good news is that unlike what a lot of riders are wearing these days, they very well have the technicalities to match the looks.Weather protection
With their 100% nylon 3 ply ripstop fabric and Inside leg vents with YKK zippers, the pants are very breathable. On the water protection level, the pants feature a 15k / 15k waterproof breathable lamination and PFC free DWR treatment so you’re sure to keep warm and dry when riding on wet terrain. Fully taped seams also help protecting you against the elements.
You’ll notice that all Souvenir pants have signature patches in the front at the side knee level and in the back at the cheeks level. This of course gives the pants undeniable style, but is also thought to be protecting your pants from getting wet while you sit down in the snow while you attach your bindings or wait for your turn to hit a jump or a rail.
Elastic cuffs and built in belt
One of the things we love from the pants is the elasticized cuffs. Not only they will allow for a proper feel when you look down at your boots, but the cuffs offer the perfect level of sagginess one can look for. The pants also feature a Built in belt with poly webbing and DuraFlex buckle. Super useful and comfortable if you like your pants a bit boversized. That’s Seriously something all snowboard pants should have. Thanks Souvenir for thinking about those details.Storage
On the storage level, the pants have enough room to fit all you need when you hit the mountain. With 2 YKK zippered pockets and a large utility pocket with self sealing velcro closure you’ll be sure to keep your phone, wallet and other belongings safe. Last but not least, the custom paracord with rubber casing pullers to keep your keys secure at all times while you ride.
Last but not least, we can’t talk about a snow brand without talking about the team. Having a great team is the best way to make a brand look sick, and Souvenir made sure to check that box within its first few months in the biz. With a crew of young shredders all displaying refined and unique styles, the team represents Souvenir’s vibes and makes this playful brand even more attracting. Goes without saying that the skill level is high as well!
Souvenir has 3 of the most promising local riders on their roster. Wesley Lalande from Saint-Sauveur, Emile Prudhomme from Quebec, but currently out West for snowboarding and none other than Empire rider and snowboard phenom David Tourigny. Just like the brand, all these guys have high levels of style mixed with technical abilities to match todays snowboarding high standards. OG style, but with all the new moves!
