VANS INTRODUCES THE NEW ZAHBA BY ZION WRIGHT
If you're looking for a skateboard shoe that will last you a long time and that will offer one of the beast impact protection/boardfeel ratio out there, look no further than the all-new Zahba. Developed in collaboration with professional skateboarder Zion Wright, this shoe is built to take your riding to the next level.
Before getting into the shoe in question, let’s get to know the rider who’s behind this new Vans Silhouette. Despite being one of the newest riders on the Vans Skateboarding team, it was about time for this Florida Powerhouse to get his own signature shoe colorway and we’re beyond stoked that this was brought to reality by one of the best shoes brands out there.
Zion Wright is one of skateboarding’s brightest young stars. At only 24 years old, he’s been a part of the US Olympic skate team, dropped hammers in countless video parts and became a key part of Vans‘ skate team. Now, Wright is continuing his rise by dropping his latest collaborative sneaker with Vans Skateboarding: a custom take on the Zahba.
If you are familiar with Zion’s skating, you know why his signature Vans shoe is “performance driven”. Known for his well-rounded approach and being a true all-terrain skater, Zion makes the most unthinkable tricks look easy with his fearless, no-holds-barred approach. The guy is simply a skateboarding machine and a true charger who’s not always easy on his gear.
It’s this essence that comes through in his latest Vans Skateboarding short film project, bringing into focus the impact that he’s had on skateboarding and the future progression of the sport. Watch the short video below.
THE SHOE
Pulling inspiration from Zion’s hometown of Jupiter, Florida, Vans blended muted earth tones with a space beach theme featuring the iconic Jupiter lighthouse. The outsole features a space-dust speckle treatment and is finished with a deco stitch of his hometown area code on the heel pull alongside an embroidered planet Jupiter.
The shoes really have a sleek look and can be worn in a variety of situations. They are clean enough for a night out in the city, comfortable enough for long walks around town and are tough enough to withstand the harsh treatment that skateboarding shoes have to go through. When you look at Zion’s skating, it’s easy to understand why these were made tough.
Durability
As an everyday skater, you go through a pair of sneakers every few months. Every time you land on your board, ground, or even a rail or two, you poke a hole, or even the traction goes. We'd like to tell you that Vans is creating a new line of skate shoes designed to prevent wear and tear on a skate shoe.

THE APPAREL COLLECTION
