Description

The Summit Nuptse is The North Face's most refined take on its most iconic silhouette — engineered for high-alpine environments where warmth and packability can't be compromised. It's aimed at mountaineers and serious backcountry riders who need expedition-level insulation in a jacket that doesn't weigh them down.

At its core, 800-fill ProDown™ paired with CLOUD DOWN construction minimizes cold spots while keeping the jacket compressible enough to stuff into its included stuffsack. The main body and sleeves use 15D Pertex® Y Fuse recycled nylon ripstop with a fluorine-free DWR finish, while the yoke, collar and hood are reinforced with a Spectra® ripstop fabric for targeted durability in high-wear zones. The helmet-compatible hood stows into the collar, stretch-knit FLASHDRY™ cuffs seal out the cold at the wrist, and a two-way YKK® VISLON® zip with an insulated draft flap keeps the core protected. The regular fit offers freedom of movement without excess bulk.

Who it's for

This jacket is built for riders and climbers who spend time in exposed, high-consequence terrain where conditions shift fast. The CLOUD DOWN construction and Spectra® reinforcements make it a genuine mountaineering tool, not just a resort layer. If your days regularly push into alpine exposure, the Summit Nuptse is worth the investment.

FAQ

  • Is the down insulation water-resistant? Yes — the ProDown™ fill is treated for water repellency, helping it retain loft even in wet or humid conditions.
  • Can this jacket be used as a snowboard outerwear shell? It's primarily a high-alpine insulation piece; for lift-accessed riding, it works best layered under a waterproof shell or in dry, cold conditions on its own.
