Each year, the Jackalope team members fulfill their mission, and this year will certainly respect the tradition!
Skateboarding at Jackalope
Although all the sports presented at Jackalope are interesting and entertaining to watch, skateboarding is what interests us the most, of course. With the legendary return of Tony Hawk accompanied by his friends Bucky Lasek, Andy McDonald, Lizzie Armanto and even more for a demo of Vert Ramp which will certainly be breathtaking, you won't have enough of your two eyes to see it all. Matter of fact, it's worth attending the festival just for that demo.
To make sure you don't miss the demo, show up on the Jackalope site on Saturday August 18th before 8pm. It's also possible to meet the Birdman in person if you have a VIP pass. The feeling when you see Tony Hawk land his tricks live with a 10,000 people screaming in awe at the bottom of the ramp is just crazy. 4 words: DON'T-MISS-IT!
Skateboarding's World Cup
Skateboarding is the star at JACKALOPE! In addition to the demo from Tony Hawk and his crew, the festival hosts the only Skateboarding World Cup stop on Canadian soil. With the introduction of skateboarding at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, Jackalope will be the opportunity to see our Canadian athletes perform, both men and women, and maybe end up on the national team.
What's also really cool is that this year's women's category will have a cash purse of $20000, same as for the men. Come see the girls shred during the women's finals, which will take held on Sunday, August 19th from 4:00 pm. Followed immediately by the men's semifinal and final, the highlight of the Jackalope show.
Finally, don't forget to show up on Friday, August 17, from 7:00 pm to check out the skateboard Best Trick contest. An open session where we reward the riders for the best maneuvers landed. It's always during the Best Tricks that we see the most impressive things. A great way to kick off the festival!
More things to do and to see
Even if what we come to see is skateboarding, there is so much things things to do and see at Jackalope. Whatever your into, you will have your money's worth.
- BOULDERING | In urban settings, bouldering’s popularity is on the rise. JACKALOPE is the event if you want to see how the pros do it and try it out yourself. It has also been selected for the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.
- FIXED GEAR | You say Montréal, we say fixie! And JACKALOPE is primed to make this little beauty a star! Professionals and amateurs will be flocking to the Olympic Park competitions and vying for the gold!
